NPR Full Form
NPR full form stands for National Population Register. NPR is a register containing information about ordinary residents of the country. This information was collected at the village, city, state, and national level in accordance with the provisions of the Citizenship Act of 1955 and the Citizenship Rules of 2003.
Its purpose is to record all legal citizens of India so that illegal immigrants can be identified and deported. The Indian government plans to implement it in other parts of India in 2021.
According to the 2003 Citizenship Rules, the central government can issue orders to prepare the National Population Register (NPR) and create a national refugee register based on the collected data. The 2003 amendment also stipulates that local officials will subsequently decide whether to add the person’s name to the NRC to determine their nationality status.
BJP pledged to implement the All India National Population Registration System in the election manifesto of the 2019 Indian General Election. On November 19, 2019, the Minister of the Interior of India’s Minister of the Interior Rajaya Sabha (Amit Shah) Shah) announced that NRC will be implemented nationwide.
