MMS Full Form
Multimedia Messaging Service
MMS full form stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. Multimedia messaging service (MMS) is a standard way of sending multimedia media from a mobile phone over a cellular network.
Users and providers may refer to such messages as PXT, image messages, or multimedia messages.
The MMS standard extends the capabilities of basic SMS (short message service), which allows the exchange of text messages over 160 characters in length. Unlike text-only SMS, MMS can provide multiple media, up to 40 seconds of video, including a single image, a slideshow of multiple images, or audio.
The first MSS-enabled phone was first introduced around 2002 with GSM networks. The Sony Ericsson T68i is widely considered to be the first MMS-enabled mobile phone, launched in several North American markets in 2004 and 2005.
The most common use involves sending photos from a camera-equipped handset.
Media companies have used MMS to distribute news and entertainment content on a commercial basis, and retailers have replaced it as a tool to provide scalable coupon codes, product photos, videos, and other information.
Microsoft Media Server
MMS full form stands for Microsoft Media Server. Microsoft’s proprietary network streaming protocol, Microsoft Media Server (MMS), works to transfer Unicast data to Windows Media Services (formerly known as NetShow Services).
MMS can be delivered via UDP or TCP. The MMS default port is UDP / TCP 1755.
Microsoft abandoned MMS in favor of RTSP (TCP / UDP port 554) in 2003 with the release of Windows Media Services 9 Series, but for some time MMS was in favor of backward compatibility. Finally, in Windows Media Services 2008, support for the protocol was discontinued.
Over the years, the developers of the SDP multimedia download tool Reverse engineered the MMS protocol and published informal documents for it. However, Microsoft finally released a protocol specification in February 2008.
