KTM full form stands for Kraftfahrzeuge Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. KTM is an Austrian motorcycle and sports car manufacturer owned by Pierre Mobility AG and Indian manufacturer Bajaj Auto.
It was formed in 1992 but was founded in 1934. Today’s TMA is the parent company of GM’s TM Group, which includes several motorcycle brands.
In 1934, Johann (Hans), an Austrian engineer, installed a fence in metformin and set up a car repair shop. The following year, in 1937, he began selling DKW motorcycles and Opel cars. His shop was known as Craft Freeze Turnknpols Matigofen, but the name was not registered.
After the war, demand for repairs plummeted, and Trunk Pool began thinking about building its own motorcycle. His first motorcycle, the R100 prototype, was built in 1951. Serial production of the R100 began in 1953. With only 20 employees, the motorcycle was manufactured in three days.
KTM is known for its off-road motorcycles (supermoto, enduro, and motocross). Since the late 1990s, he has developed street motorcycles and sports cars – the XBO. In 2015, KTM sold off-road bikes.
Since 2012, KTM has been Europe’s largest motorcycle maker for four consecutive years. Globally, the company is one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers. In 2016, KTM sold 203,423 motor vehicles worldwide.
