AYUSH Full Form
AYUSH full form stands for Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Onani and Sidha and Homeopathy (abbreviated as AYUSH) aims to develop education, research and dissemination of local alternative medicine systems in India.
The Ministry is headed by a Minister of State (Independent Official), and is currently headed by Shribad Yisu Naik.
The ministry faced significant criticism for funding systems that lacked biological plausibility and were either not proven or were conclusively shown to be ineffective. The quality of the research was poor, and the drugs were released without rigorous pharmacokinetic studies or significant clinical trials.
AYUSH is supposed to form the integral backbone of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and the ministry has long worked to integrate various AYUSH systems with modern medicine, in what has been described as a “crossover” type.
